Oy, I hope this doesn't become a trend here! I did call the city to inquire about the issue, and they'll send out an inspector if I complain about a rat-attracting nuisance, which an open compost heap is.

I also dropped off some info on compost bins and city regulations today with a note saying I'd be happy to help them clean up the pile, here's when I'm available this weekend. Too bad they're not here now, it's actually sunny!
