This novelette is written in a journalistic style, which gives it enough distance from the above issues that I kept reading. It tackles urgent ethical issues that we all need to consider.

It is a timely and relevant piece about the extent to which learning programs can be our best and our worst selves, simultaneously and consistently, until the end of existence.

Agreed! I thought the story did a good job of walking that line between admonishing essay and interesting story.
