Book rec: Ask for Horses

This book has a light touch with deep questions. It looks closely at pain, but doesn't get lost in it. It tells dreams in a swift spare way that shares their essence without getting bogged down in details. No dream-interpretation recipes here - the dreamer is the final authority on their dreams.

I read this book because Tina is a friend. I loved this book because Tina is a skilled, lyrical writer sharing her hard-earned life lessons with us. If you have struggled to get present with yourself and the people around you, if you dig deep to find meaning, if you're both pragmatic and mystical, I think you'll love it too.

Ask for Horses: Memoir of a Dream-Guided Life
By Tina Tau
“. . . Ask for something so alive, so surprising, that it will crack your life wide open.”

An adventure story in two realms, a conversation between the visible and invisible worlds: in this eloquent memoir, Tina Tau reveals the life-saving intelligence of her dreams. As a young woman she tries to outrun her pain by moving every year, often thousands of miles at a time. But by paying attention to her dreams, she is finally able to slow down, heal, and begin to shine. Her story is a guide to the daily practice of saying yes to your own life’s innate wisdom.
