Story! Shtetl Days
Shtetl Days by Harry Turtledove
This is not a comfortable story to read. It includes anti-semitic violence and harm to characters. I'm recommending it because it talks about long-term hope, and about some fundamental positives about Judaism. Also it is wonderfully well-crafted.
As a holiday gift for all you lovely dreamwidth folks, I added a story! tag for your reading pleasure. I've gone back and tagged 2018 posts, and will get to the rest over time.
And a links tag too, while I was at it.
One thing that could make dreamwidth immensely better is a proper search function. Having to add tags by hand to be able to find things later is just silly.

If you don't have a paid account, you can still pretty much search your journal by adding your username to the search terms.
It's not as full-featured as AO3's search or anything, but it's usually enough that I can find an old post I'm looking for pretty quickly.
