Music: Fabulous holiday videos from Kitka and Joni Mitchell
Bay Area Balkan choir Kitka is posting videos from their Wintersongs concerts this year: Wintersongs 2021. They are such fantastic singers. Not much directly religious or Christian content, and the songs are in Georgian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, etc. anyway. Videos added daily Dec 21-31.
I got to be at the evening concert December 11 at the Freight & Salvage, and I'm so glad I made that pilgrimage, since I won't travel or attend concerts while omicron surges. In the years since I last saw a Kitka concert, I've learned so much more about hearing and creating those kinds of songs. I hear layers instead of a wash of sound. Knowing more about how it's done makes them even more impressive!
