Why sunrise keeps getting later after solstice

I posted a link last year about why sunrise keeps getting later after winter solstice until about now, but here's an even better link, with a bunch of interactive images.

Last year I found this free Day & Night map iphone app, and later paid $3.99 for the more detailed LunaSolCal iphone app made by the same folks. At some point I discovered that the app would put a summary of rise & set times for today and tomorrow on the notification screen, so I've been enjoying keeping an eye on those as they change.

Sunset started getting later a week before solstice and the sky is already slightly lighter at 5pm (when we're not socked in by clouds).
