sonia: Quilted wall-hanging (Default)
I made teff muffins today. (Could have sworn I posted the recipe to [community profile] gluten_free, but I can't find it there.) After sliding them into the oven, I started cleaning up without remembering to set a timer. I realized after a bit and set a timer with a guess on how much time had gone by.

Did some laundry, came back to the computer to read email and DW, and I hear the timer go off. After a bit, the cat harasses me to feed him. I take him into the kitchen and realize, oh, the muffins! Fortunately they were only a little extra-toasted, not burnt.

At the same time as I feel dread and heartache, I've also been feeling relief and lightness and gratitude. Maybe I needed to stop and rest for a while. Maybe it's suddenly more clear everything I have to be grateful for.

This poem comes close to expressing what I've been feeling. Thanks for passing it along, [personal profile] rosefox!

as the Jews consider the Sabbath—
the most sacred of times?
