sonia: Chocolate fluffy cat on a chair in the sun (basil chair)
It has cooled down enough to be pleasant to sit on the back porch with my laptop. Basil the cat is peacefully lounging next to me in his harness and leash.

I saw someone mention unclaimed.org and searching for unclaimed property. I searched on a whim and it said I had "less than $50" in unclaimed property. It wanted my SSN, etc., which I was nervous about typing into a random website, but I checked around and it seemed legit. And sure enough I got a check for $48 and change a couple of weeks later. Possibly from book royalties from Google Play? I recommend checking it out for states you've lived in, and of course do your own due diligence before putting in identifying info for a claim.

The volunteer pansy in the raised bed is flowering a deep purple-red. I haven't had pansies in the back yard for a few years, so I don't know where it came from. I'm pleased that I didn't pull it up as a weed.

In that same raised bed, the beans I planted grew like beanstalks (now I understand that better!) and have made more beans. I don't think they're ready to harvest yet, though.

My zucchini plants are happily making zucchini! I have kept up by giving some away to a neighbor. My gluten-free zucchini chocolate cake (actually muffins/cupcakes) came out well. I only put in half the sugar, and I might put in more next time, but definitely not the whole 2 cups. Also this recipe makes more that one muffin pan's worth, so I had to make an auxiliary little cake as well. I figured there would be overflow, but I didn't want to start adjusting amounts the first time I made the recipe, and I wanted to use the maximum amount of zucchini.

I had to do a little extra research to find out you don't have to peel the zucchini before grating it for baking. And this recipe didn't require any kind of squeezing to get rid of extra moisture. I baked the muffins 25 min, and the auxiliary cake 30 min, although really it could have used 35 min.

Someone is reading "Me and White Supremacy" because I suggested it, and she took it well when I gently said that I'm sure she meant "race" when she said "nationality" in talking about differences between herself and her Chinese and Black neighbors.
