sonia: Quilted wall-hanging (Default)
These are the poems we discussed in the narrative medicine class I just completed. Content notes for addressing possibly difficult subjects.

Looking for Omar by E. Ethelbert Miller, poem text.

What It’s Like to Be Transgender by Lee Mokobe, poem text and performance by the author.

I discussed our third item here and here. It was a racist movie by a white guy and needs no further attention.

For Fat Girls Who Considered Starvation When Bulimia Wasn’t Enough by Rachel Wiley, poem text and performance by the author.

Poems with Disabilities by Jim Ferris, poem text. This one is a dud by a white dude. Sparked some interesting conversation in class, though. I duly protested to the teacher (politely) about bullshit disembodied white guy poetry. *sigh*
