Yes, this is the most important election of our lives.
Only because we collectively flunked the 2016 election. That was the most important election in 234,000 lives and counting not to mention the kids in cages on the border etc. etc. Not even going to get into a litany of the destruction in the last four years and the many years to come from the Supreme Court.
And maybe because we collectively flunked the Bush v. Gore election. There have been a lot of crucially important elections in my lifetime.
I'm still boggled by the sheer destructiveness of the Republican machine. They're not just cheating, they're cheating so they can destroy things and people. Why?!?! (Not looking for an answer to that, thanks!)
Someone said today that he wants Election Day to be a celebration the way he remembers in his childhood. Yes! A celebration of democracy. Let's establish an actual democracy, no Electoral College, no Senate. Actual representation!
On a much less serious note, I went to the library today for an outdoor book pickup, and they had stuck individual "I Voted" stickers to the stair railing with tape. There's a ballot dropbox at each library. I told them I voted earlier and took a sticker. The kindness of it makes me want to cry. I'm surprised how much it pleases me to have a sticker. I voted!
