Speak up, speak out with love

soniaThere is no perfect way to be an activist. There is no perfect way to live. There is no perfect way to speak up, speak out, take a stand. And yet, if we are silent, we are complicit with our society's abuses of power.
Thanks togingicat for posting about the Maccabeats' song about George Floyd, "Say Your Name." What I love about the song is how loving it is. The Maccabeats assert, Black Lives Matter enough to write and perform a song, to put it out there and say they care.
Thanks also for linking to their post http://www.maccabeats.com/say-your-name/ in response to people's condemnation of their song. Beware the comments! Apparently we are so deep in the pit of white supremacy that some people can't make room for a group of white Jewish men to say, "This Black man's life matters."
