Winning against hardware

I updated the El Capitan operating system on my Mac, and my external DVD drive finally deigned to recognize and spit out the blank CD in it. Fortunately, because I need to make DVD copies of the dance festival review session. Didja know they make these drives without a "no, I mean it, spit it out now" button these days? Who thought that was a good idea?
Then I rebooted the router and reset the settings on the printer to factory defaults and reinstalled the printer software, and now the printer deigns to talk to my computer again. As much as I love wireless printing, I never had this problem when there was a wire between the printer and computer. The wireless connectivity degraded gradually, which is just weird.
Modern amenities are GREAT! When they work.
