Officially Middle-Aged

When I turned 35, I remember wondering if I was middle-aged now, but I didn't feel any different.

Lately, at the age of 43, I think I've turned that corner. When I encounter annoying, entitled, oblivious behavior from people in their twenties, I find myself rolling my eyes and thinking, "They're so young!"

My cat Lilac has inflammatory bowel disease, controlled with a vet-provided food and vet-provided prednisolone. I don't like my vet, but haven't been able to find a satisfactory replacement, so I decided I was willing to keep giving them money periodically to buy food and medicine.

( Not so fast )

I suddenly feel lucky that I don't need medicines for my own health that would put me at the mercy of the human medical industrial complex. My sympathies to everyone who is dealing with that!
