I'd love to be able to sing like that
Aug. 6th, 2012 07:29 pmStumbled across this video of Georgian Anchiskhati Choir singing "Arkuashaga" with Anna Zatiashvili. Go watch and listen, it's only just over a minute long. If you respond to it at all the way I did, you'll replay it a few times in a row.
Wow. Her power, confidence, stillness, openness... The way the men are backing her up, supporting her, and she's receiving that support like someone basking in a hot shower. She's out-singing 7 men and a guitar! Those men aren't holding back, nor are they competing. They're feeding their power into her and she's letting her voice soar on the resonance and vibration.
In that February workshop we learned about stoking, where people singing one part are feeding energy to another part and it forms a positive spiral. That's what I see here.
Wow. I'd love to have the training and health (emotional and physical) to sing like that.
