I presented!

I did my first presentation about my book today, at the Integrative Healers Consortium, a networking group I've been attending for about six months. I was supposed to present as a last-minute thing last month, but almost no one showed up, so it was rescheduled. Perhaps that's why it didn't occur to me to spread the word... But this time there were 6 people, very engaged in the exercises and discussion, and some of them even bought books!
I struggled with starting to put the presentation together, but once I sat down and focused on it, it came together fairly easily. I was calm for the presentation itself and I'm pleased with how it went. I read Choose Your Traditions, Say Yes to Your Boundaries (PDF), and Claim Your Space, Breathe into Your Back. People even sang with me!
It was great to see people have aha! moments about boundaries, survival tools, and making choices about their holiday celebrations. I see that the book has value out in the world. I also learned that if I want people to focus on their bodies and sensations, I have to do a lot more work to set that up in advance. It's not something that happens automatically.
Yay, I presented! It feels like an accomplishment and a rite of passage. I've known that doing presentations would be good for my business, but it has felt too hard to do in the past. I'm glad it's becoming possible now.
