Did a Farmers Market run today. Amazingly my vegetables lasted three weeks from the last one. One of the benefits of buying vegetables picked fresh that morning. Summer vegetables might not be as sturdy though. I just made a huge stirfry with all the asparagus and zucchini I got at the co-op last week because I thought I needed veggies to tide me over, and they were already starting to look sad.

I resent the upset of my weekly Farmers Market routine and having to figure out all over again how much to buy and how to keep some of the veggies from going bad and not getting to eat them as fresh as I did before. I might have to start figuring out some pickling and preserving.

I resent that it's way more stressful than it used to be just to hand a debit card to someone and then get it back, never mind paying with cash and getting change, which is what I mostly did before. Vendors and customers are being as careful and kind as possible, and almost everyone was wearing a mask, but it still overall feels like a risk instead of a pleasure. Standing in line (spaced 6' apart of course) under the huge trees in the dripping rain, I reminded myself to enjoy being outside, breathing the fresh air.

Note that I resent the pandemic in general, not the stay-at-home orders, which I enthusiastically support. A small benefit of the new arrangements is that vendors are no longer putting money on the produce scales, which was grossing me out. You don't know where that's been!

I got cilantro starts! I haven't been successful in finding seeds the last few years. I have two little six-packs of starts where I really only needed one, because I couldn't get a close look at them in advance, and also there's a sense of "get it while you can!" Oh well, there will be an abundance of cilantro and coriander in my cooking this summer, and I can save seeds for next year.

There's a pause in the rain, so I will go plant the cilantro starts and sweep up some of the debris falling from the trees in my yard.
