Echad Mi Yodea, the serious version
Jul. 16th, 2020 05:36 pmEchad Mi Yodea, by Ohad Naharin, performed by Batsheva - the Young Ensemble. Music starts at :40. Good speakers and full screen view recommended.
"Echad Mi Yodea" - Who Knows One. This is a Passover children's song, counting up with various Biblical references. The version in my head is performed by a child's voice. Wikipedia has the lyrics.
This performance is entirely serious. It looks like it's part of a modern dance opera. The dancers are fantastic! Here's more about this piece.
( My impressions )
ETA 2024: An outdoor version in an Italian piazza, with the dancers looking somewhat older.
As an unrelated chaser, a rehearsal video of Seattle's Balkan choir back in 2017. Dunava singing Proču Se Moma Nedelja over ice cream (Facebook link).
