Gratitude

In this very difficult year, I am grateful for the safe harbor of a house to shelter in. I am grateful for a purring cat to share it with. I am grateful for outdoor space to garden and sit in (when weather permits). I am grateful for the clients I have continued to see online, and for the unemployment benefits that have kept me on a financial even keel despite not practicing in person.

I am grateful to past me for learning how to keep moving forward in times of extreme stress, and for preparing well for sheltering in place, both intentionally and coincidentally. Given how much time I spend at the kitchen sink washing my hands and washing dishes, I have really enjoyed that new faucet from last year. I am grateful for the routines past me established that have continued to carry me forward.

I am grateful for the ongoing anchor of zoom folk dancing and zoom singing lessons. I am grateful to all the folks who have worked very hard to move events and workshops online to keep us virtually connected.

I am grateful to everyone out there who has isolated and/or provided essential services and/or done what they could to help others get through.

I am more grateful than I can convey for the personal connections that have endured, and some new ones that have grown via zoom and dreamwidth.

Like someone who just got off a rollercoaster and is grateful that the ground isn't moving, I am grateful for the basics - food and warmth and a little sunshine now and then. I am grateful that it looks like sometime in the next year we will be able to take somewhat more for granted.
