I'm getting over food poisoning (or something), and posted to
gluten_free requesting ideas on bland foods that won't hurt my tender gut. Such a flood of kind and useful responses!
I'm so grateful to
runpunkrun (and
jesse_the_k) for running the community, and everyone for chiming in. It's lonely being sick on my own, and hard to figure out self-care when I'm already wobbly from not eating, and can't eat the childhood default of gluten-containing saltines.
Bolstered by everyone's suggestions, today I made a two egg omelette with dill from the garden, and separately some white rice cooked with chicken stock. Omnomnom! Made the kitchen smell good, too. So far no major ill effects, although I did have some abdominal pain again hours later.
I went to the farmer's market this morning for eggs, and stopped at a booth that sells medicinal herbs. They suggested calendula and self-heal (never heard of that one before) so I've been drinking tea made from those. Hopefully that will soothe my gut along with the bland food.
I made some plain white rice tonight so I can try
rosefox's quick rice pudding recipe tomorrow.
