When “Ma’am” and “Sir” Just Don’t Work? Help! by Vin Tanner. "Gender Neutral and Nonbinary-Exclusive Language; A Small Guide."

How ultra-processed food took over your shopping basket by Bee Wilson. Unfortunately talks about obesity as a problem in itself, but otherwise an interesting way to think about food choices.

Embrace the night: the floating sleepers of Sicily – in pictures by Elizabeth Heyert. "Elizabeth Heyert’s intimate images of people sleeping were projected on to huge stone walls in a deserted town in Sicily and rephotographed. The result is an extraordinary series with the power of ancient sculpture." Gorgeous, and the left sidebar describing the process is worth reading too.

That famous cello prelude, deconstructed. 10 minutes. "Bach's G major prelude has captivated cellists and music lovers for years. Cellist Alisa Weilerstein deconstructs it."

Ensemble Adilei - „Megrelian Zari“. This is the Georgian Choir I saw in Seattle last spring.

Uzh Vy Golubi Russian song sung by Anna Fadeeva.

Be Happy, It's an Order (Sinan Cetin). A Turkish black and white film clip, subtitled, 7 minutes. In 1934, a group of Turkish people are happily making music. Soldiers come in, point rifles at them, and say, "Be Western! Be Happy!" The musicians play first Mozart, then Beethoven on their Turkish instruments. Then they shade over into a Turkish folk song and the soldiers bop along happily. Posting it here in case I ever want to find it again...

My sister, who lives in Seattle, sings in a Georgian choir. For a brief moment, before I clicked on the link, I hoped I'd see her standing there!

Great links!

The Vin Tanner piece on gender-inclusive language is TOP NOTCH! Thank you.

I've watched the cello piece several times, each time melting.

Significantly helpful, these things, thank you. It was nice to walk through the Prelude with someone who could teach us the musical theory with it.

Myself, as well. It would be nice to understand more what is going on in the pieces I play, beyond just the matters of intonation and rhythm.
