In many of the articles that I read about who got the virus bad and who avoided it, the running theme seems to be that the people that took it seriously, let the science dictate the response, and put the political apparatus behind making sure the science could be followed are the ones having the best results, while the places that care more about image, ego, xenophobia, or capital have the worst problems with it.
