It's hard when we all have to figure out new ways to live in a shifting reality. The rules keep changing. We learn more about the virus, and it is also changing. We each decide individually, but individual decisions put us collectively at risk.

I read the text of the following link early on, and it strongly informed my "follow all the rules, even if it seems ridiculous now" attitude. I think the infection rate must be very low here in Portland, because I see lots of people not being careful, and I'm not hearing about a big spike in infections.

[E]ven if there is only a little bit of additional connection between groups (i.e. social dinners, playdates, unnecessary trips to the store, etc.), the epidemic likely won’t be much different than if there was no measure in place.


This next one sounds great, if you can find a small group of people who are all being equally careful. I could include myself in a "bubble" with a local couple, but they're being way less careful than I am.

I've been pondering creating just such a bubble, because even though I'm in an ideal situation, I'm getting a tad cranky.
