On Jewish atheism by
rabbiandruekahn. "In order to be an atheist in Judaism, you have to actively believe something very specific: The materiality of the world as we see it is definitely all there is, without any meaning or purpose. Arch materialists like this certainly exist, but I find them exceedingly rare." Interesting thread! The more I learn about Judaism, the more I learn that in my wanderings I have arrived at a spirituality that is consonant with core Jewish beliefs, even though I'm allergic to what I've seen of Shabbat services.
Silent CD (and MP3s) by Andrew Hardwick. Varying lengths of silent tracks to insert into your project as needed. Freely downloadable. My folk dance friends are using the 8s track to put brief pauses between each dance in a longer set.
WIP: Social Media Expectations by Kacen Callender. "The [book] sales are not driven by social media presence. They’re driven, always, by the efforts of the publisher, and how much money they’re willing and able to spend for each title."

Badger Seal (Mask Fitter). This thing simply works. It holds the mask against my face and keeps my glasses from fogging up, even (crucially) while riding my bike. It does put some pressure on my face and leave a red mark across the bridge of my nose after a while. I didn't get a confirmation email for my order, but when I wrote in to ask about that on a Saturday evening, I got a quick reply and the package arrived sooner than predicted. Also, just noticed my package included a code for 5% off: GoBadgers .
Luck, foresight and science: How an unheralded team developed a COVID-19 vaccine in record time by David Heath and Gus Garcia-Roberts. It's reassuring to have a better understanding of the science that was already there behind the rapid development of the Covid vaccines.
Inside DC’s Secret Covid Morgue by Luke Mullins. It's the local, vivid details that show us the magnitude of this pandemic.

Lassiter never refers to the deceased as “corpses” or “cadavers” or “cases.” Instead, she calls them “my people.”
“That’s the only way I can get [the workers] to treat them the way they would treat someone that they love,” Lassiter says. “Because it makes them see how special these people are to me.”
