Housing again

I thought I had my initial housing in Oakland all sorted out, but now they tell me the apartment I signed a lease for won't be ready. They have an "identical" one, but it doesn't have a balcony (did the first one? who knows! the diagram showed one) and now they mention that the hallways and lobbies have fragrance. Ugh. My agent is going to go by and see how bad it is. They said if it's too bad they'll return my deposit.

I was uneasy about this management company already, and now I'm even more uneasy. If I can find an alternative, I would be happy to part ways, but I signed the lease in the first place because I wasn't finding other short-term options for me and my cat. Apparently month-to-month leases are a thing of the past.

Argh! I am so sorry! The hallways of my building have fragrance, but only on Wednesdays when they use some kind of scented cleaning product. If I gave the cleaners some fragrance-free cleaning stuff they would probably be happy to use it instead, because they aren't using perfume AT us.
