It is brief and beautiful, but I think it meanders less than the waters at the center of the piece.

Maybe you saw where it was going sooner than I did on the first read.

Not the specific of where it went, definitely not, but it sets itself up well as a story about the consequences of actions. The twist of whose actions are being commented on isn't telegraphed at all.
