Shana Tova to those who celebrate! May your year be full of sweetness and health. Also Happy Equinox to those who celebrate, and of course good wishes to all and sundry.
On this gloriously sunny warm weekend, I
- Took the cat to the vet up the street for a routine appointment to establish care. I remember sitting around forever in one of their little rooms 20 years ago. Guess what, it's still the same. Convenient though, works for now.
- At the nearby pet store, got kitty litter, cat food, and a heart-shaped black collar tag with a few pink rhinestones that says Do Not Feed because Basil already convinced a neighbor he's a poor starving stray.
- Biked to the Berkeley Farmers Market, acquired vegetables, left knives to be sharpened.
- Met a friend for lunch at Cafe Leila. As far as I can tell the food I chose was actually gluten-free, even though they did not leave off any of the other things I asked them to leave off. I like their large outdoor seating area, but I don't think I'll seek them out again.
- Stopped back at the Berkeley Farmers Market to pick up my knives.
- Hiked with a friend at Redwood Park. Yay Redwood Park! I've been wanting to get back there. It's even bigger and better than I remembered. We hiked about 5 miles in a corner of it I hadn't been in, it has that many trails along the crest of the hills, and down into small valleys with streams running along them. With lots of majestic redwoods!
- This morning, two zoom meetings.
- Biked back across Berkeley for a 2-hour Balkan dance party at Ashkenaz (vax & masks required). So fun!! I'm starting to get to know the local die-hard Balkan dance community, and they're welcoming me in as another aficionado with enough skill to lead dances. :-)
- On the ride home, finally stopped by Berkeley Bowl grocery store, since I went right by it. Crammed a bunch of stuff I haven't been finding anywhere else into my bike pannier.
- The friend I hiked with had previously invited me to come hang out tonight, but I begged off on grounds of being tired and not wanting to get back on my bike. I'll be seeing her tomorrow for a Rosh Hashanah open house. No more solitary slightly tearful eating apples & honey!
I'm glad I moved back. And I'm glad I spent the years in Portland learning to get out of the house and go to new things, bike on new routes, reach out to new people.
I got my bivalent Covid booster on Thursday. I felt it a little bit over the next couple of days, but it didn't slow me down much (as you can tell!). It feels like my body has gotten resigned to coping with an infusion of Covid spikes periodically.

That's ... kind of good? :) Glad you could do the many cool things you've done this weekend.

Date: 2022-09-26 03:18 am (UTC)Yeah, I think it's good my body no longer goes, "WTF! This again?!" which is how the first booster felt. Since it seems like we're going to have to keep getting boosters.
