Lo these many years ago there was a BART strike, and I would stare out at the Bay Bridge, frustrated that I couldn't just bike to work from Oakland to San Francisco. (On the upside, the strike made me try the Transbay buses, which are great.)
Biking across the Bay Bridge will become possible in 2030.
The bike path on the East span is fantastic - wide, separated from traffic, gently sloped, with solid railings and lights. I hope the West span path will be equally nice.

Date: 2022-12-23 09:19 pm (UTC)In other news: the causeway into Sacramento from here finally has a fully opened bike lane. The best part about it is that, unlike the old one, this one is separated by mesh from the road itself so riding it is less like riding into a hail of pebbles than the old one was.
We're slowly getting there.
