Links: unexpected art
Jan. 11th, 2023 08:58 pmA tiny train by Cindy Chinn.
Choristers' Private Tears (video) lyrics by Stephanie Mattingly, sung by the Chronos Vocal Ensemble via
james_davis_nicoll. Fabulous parody of a song I know so well that it's hard for me to keep the original words from overlaying what I'm hearing.
Dancing with Pride (comic) by Maia Kobabe (e/em/eir pronouns). E captures the folk dance experience beautifully, including the mostly elderly crowd's gently puzzled acceptance of new ideas. The groups I've danced with have been gracious about people crossing what were traditionally strict gender boundaries where the dances originated.
ETA: More of Maia Kobabe's delightful art and stories: redgoldsparkspress.com. E has a masters in comics! Thanks

...and the train!!!!
...Maia Kobabe's drawing is so expressive -- it's somehow more real than photos. Eir site hosts nifty graphic and writing projects.
