Today in annoying tech problems, I cannot access my email or anything on my own domains from my home network. If I turn wifi off on my phone, I can access my email via cellular data (fortunately!). I can ping the domains just fine, just can't resolve them in a web browser

I have contacted support for both my web host and my internet service provider, and they have both more or less said, "Must be the other one blocking your IP." They did both check for blocks and didn't find any. I have rebooted, changed DNS servers, etc. etc. I'm the one who thought of sending them both traceroute output, but apparently that wasn't enlightening.

The web host said he reset his blocked IPs, so it's probably not on his side? The isp support person said they have more experienced people available on Monday and sometimes these problems are transient and just go away. I said it's been 24 hours, so it doesn't seem all that transient.

I've been meaning to set up fastmail, so I'm working on that. Editing MX records to make my email address forward to them makes me REALLY NERVOUS though! Especially since I'll have to use cpanel on my phone since I can't get to my own domains on my network. SIGH.

Anyone had a problem like this before? It's frustrating!

ETA: Resolved “spontaneously” a couple of days later. Meaning someone removed an unnecessary block somewhere.

I've had transient net trouble for the past day or so---things being slow due to timeout-retry--and Dreamwidth keeps returning 503 intermittently. Dunno. Good luck with your setup issues! It does sound frustrating.

Yup, DW has been having problems on and off this evening -- I never saw mention of it on the DW status twitter, but Down For Everyone Or Just Me confirmed it.

I've had mysterious transient partial routing outages before, but have no helpful memory associated with them.

For internet behavior oddness on Saturday, i would right click on google results and the result URL https://www.google.com/url?yaddayaddayadda would just hang. That's not routing, at least, not from my home network to google.
