What Biking in the Winter is Really Like (video) from Oh The Urbanity. "What’s it like to bike in the winter in Montreal, a big North American city that’s pretty bike-friendly but also has cold and snowy winters?" 17 minutes of watching a bicyclist navigate and rate local bike routes, during a snow storm, the next day, and a few days later. Surprisingly entertaining. Did you know that they don't just push snow off the road in Montreal? They scoop it up and truck it away!

Cycling Fallacies from the Cycling Embassy of Great Britain. Quick reference to the same old canards people use to argue against cyclists and cycling infrastructure, with documented responses.
If you're a cycle campaigner, you'll probably have come up against the same old arguments time and time again. There are many myths about cycling, which are widespread and often believed, without any basis in fact. So we hope to make it easier for cycle campaigners to win the argument by providing a quick response to these myths.

Riding One of the Weirdest Trains in America (video) from Tekniq. A lot of careful maintenance and oiling of the train first, and then a gentle excursion. 11 min.

🤔 That must be a local train from Andrea Corbellini, @andrea@ubuntu.social. I am a geek, this one made me double over laughing.

What a lovely buffet of infrastructural fandom!

I wish we had those massive snowblowers to clear our streets. Some snow is loaded into dump trucks, hauled to maintenance buildings in city parks, and piled around 20 feet high. They ever-so-slowly melt until late June.

The local train joke is excellent, and the list of cycling fallacies will be useful, I'm sure.

I would have been more interested in some narration or explanation on the train journey, or what makes this one particularly weird, but it was still a nice 11 minutes of train things and train sounds all the same.

No more so, I think, thank the ones who have BSODs or Chrome crashes showing on their terminals, which I have seen frequently in the normal course of everything.
