Fuck yeah, Kamala Harris!

I said to a friend on Sunday that the worst case is still the worst case, but the best case just got a whole lot better. I'm excited to vote for Kamala Harris in a way that I wasn't for Joe Biden, although I definitely would have.

siderea pointed out a great moment in Kamala Harris's recent speech.

And John Scalzi pointed out that there was method behind the apparent Democratic flailing. "Biden’s news was quickly followed by his endorsement of Kamala Harris, which in turn was followed by a flood of endorsements for Harris across the Democratic political firmament, effectively slamming the door on any serious challenge to Harris at the upcoming Democratic National Convention."

I donated to Kamala Harris's campaign, I donated to the Movement Voter Project, and I downloaded 20 letters from Vote Forward's California campaign.

I plan to write: "I vote because I love California, and I want all our kids to have a safe and joyful future."

When I heard Biden was stepping down, I felt a rush of panic because I have had little faith that the Democrats can come together in a crisis and act effectively. Since the moment he endorsed Harris, and the momentum began building immediately, I am feeling far more hopeful. I am happy to support and vote for her.

Enjoyed John Scalzi's post, and continue to read the comments. His is the only blog I read where I read the comments because he attracts a pretty intelligent crowd and makes no space for trolls.

And I love your Liberty/Justice icon. Where did you find that?

From what we've seen of the initial period, it appears that President Harris has significant appeal in ways that President Biden didn't. We'll have to see how/whether the opposition can recover from having tailored themselves to fight one candidate, only to be presented with another.

I prefer to pay attention to getting out the vote than to whatever nastiness the other side will get up to.

An excellent pastime, especially because you'll get to counter a lot of that nastiness that comes through and tries to make other people unable to vote.

Oh, they're already pivoting. It's not worth paying attention to, though, because we have work to do and that stuff is there to pull our energy from it.

It didn't seem likely they would make any kind of novel or interesting argument, and I doubt anyone who is familiar with misogynoir will want to see much of it again.

Yes, I was dreading everything and then I was wholly energized on the turn. I'll be joining the call to mobilize tomorrow night and phone banking next weekend.
