As a single not-particularly-butch woman, I have to work pretty hard to come out as a lesbian, and the conversation always seems to sputter a bit, even with other queer folks. "Oh, I, uh, didn't know that." (Uh-huh, that's why I'm telling you, because last I checked, it's not branded on my forehead. Sigh)

Date: 2014-04-03 01:49 am (UTC)Conventional wisdom has it that there are a lot more straight and/or bi people out there than gay and/or bi people (no idea with the bi percentage is!), so it seems likely that bi people would end up in opposite-sex relationships a high proportion of the time. (Ballpark 9/10 relationships if we guesstimate with the 10%-of-people-are-gay figure, right?)
That's leaving aside the social pressures and assumptions that make it easier to start and continue opposite-sex relationships.
(Not lecturing at you, just thinking.)
