Sounds like a war out there
Jul. 4th, 2011 09:09 pmToday, I'm grateful my cat is deaf. Buying and detonating fair-sized fireworks is legal here, and the explosions start hours, nay, days before the official display. Lilac sits on her cat-tree peacefully through it all. I'm grumpily resigned, but I think it's strange that in a country lucky enough to mostly avoid war on our soil, we recreate the sights and sounds so eagerly.
During a Blue Angels practice I remember someone saying this is the only country where people run from shelter to look up when a warplane roars overhead. Maybe not the only one, but still, point taken.
