Good-bye pots! Good-bye bread machine!
Sep. 19th, 2011 09:40 pmI decided that I'm ready to let go of my old gluten-contaminated pots & pans, so I piled them in my bike trailer and took them down to Goodwill. While I was at it, I took the bread machine, too. I may someday be interested in baking gluten-free bread, but I don't think I'd trust a machine that has made many wheat-flour loaves. I had to remove a thick layer of dust - it's been sitting unused at least three years.
There's a lot of history there. I bought the initial cookware set in 1993 after the breakup with the controlling guy who got rid of my old cookware because it "wasn't good enough." I swore that wouldn't happen again, and bought a nice set. Then (did you see this coming?) the next controlling guy I dated said cast-iron cookware was the only thing worth using. But at least I kept my set, and brought it back out when the breakup was done.
I remember when and why I got the pans I added later, too, including the big non-stick frying pan my abusive (this is why I'm single!) ex-girlfriend and I bought together. I hope the pans' next owner gets a lot of pleasure and nourishment from them. I hope I get a lot of pleasure and nourishment from my new pans too, whether I'm cooking alone or with someone else.
In other news, I copied the final book text & cover to my flash drive for printing at the copy center tomorrow morning and proofreading one last time. Then I upload it to LightningSource for an actual bound proof, and then it goes live. I'm happy with how the book turned out. I didn't expect that.
