Clean all the things
Feb. 20th, 2021 07:55 pmI spent the day washing ALL the massage sheets, and vacuuming, and cleaning all the surfaces, and putting a new battery in the clock that had stopped, and gluing the frame of the room divider that cracked when it fell over outside on uneven ground, and bringing my massage table in from the garage, and generally getting ready to reopen for business. It was a lot of physical work!
Also figuring out why the toilet tank was dripping, augh! I think it was just a loose bolt. I tightened it and we'll see how it goes. It didn't occur to me that things might go wrong in that bathroom while I wasn't using it.
I had two little clocks in my office, one in the waiting area and one by the massage table. I bought one of them when I first started my practice, and it stopped working entirely shortly after the pandemic started, even with a new battery. I just ordered a larger wall clock from Amazon that claims to run silently. ETA: It is actually silent, hurrah!
It felt good to be reinhabiting my massage space. I imagine it will be good to be back in the rhythm of seeing clients again, even if the transition is bumpy. When I first started, I used to get stage fright with each new client, and I feel something like that now. I'm confident in my skills, but it still feels vulnerable to show up with people and try to give them what they need. Now I'm responsible not just for my space and my skills, but also for my anti-Covid measures. I can only hope my Blueair filter and KN95 masks will be good enough.
