My friends who live way the heck across town, well, in the next town actually, had a big party today. I figured I'd take several buses to get there, and then ask around for a ride at least part of the way home.
Some mutual friends called me and offered me a ride. They thought about the fact that I'd be going, don't have a car, and live on their way there. Not only did they save me a long journey by bus, but I'm warmed through by their kindness.
To me that's part of friendship, keeping a friend's circumstances in mind and offering help when I can. I know there's a balance there with codependence and getting into other people's business and trusting them to run their own life, but it seems like the older I get, the wider apart people get.
I'm happy that they kept me in mind!
