Bike ride, haircut

I rode up Tunnel Rd and out Skyline almost to Redwood Rd, stopping where the road starts to descend, since I didn't want to climb back up again. I remember when that was a twice-weekly morning "short" ride to supplement the weekend longer rides when I was training for the CA AIDS Ride. It felt plenty long today, 20 miles and 2000 feet of elevation gain on a hot day. I suppose training (and the passage of 20+ years) really does make a difference. My friend was on an electric-assist bike and seemed more at ease with the ride.

My hair has grown long enough to be annoying again, so I tackled cutting it. The process felt a bit ragged, less careful that past times, but the results are fine. And my hair is wavy and grows fast and I braid it all the time anyway, so it's good enough. I started out to take off a little less than last time, but I think it ended up close to the same length, maybe because it hadn't grown as long after 8 months as after a year and a half.

Twenty miles sounds epic to me — I’m glad there are routes that aren’t entirely about altitude.

How in blazes did you cut that so evenly?

I put it in a couple of scrunchies while it was down my back, and then brought it around to the front to cut. And then there's finagling to even it out. Tips from videos here and here.

My goodness! The video teacher has the longest hair I’ve ever seen.

I had very long thick hair when young. It’s easier to admire yours than take care of mine, which I transformed into a “Hamill bob” in 1977.

Someday I’m gonna shave it all off, if only to learn what my skill looks like.
